I'm working as a statistician since twenty two years; after reading the text accompanying the estimator. I find that the method used makes sense and the way the results are presented are honnest and transparent.
Those who undertook the invasion of Iraq should be tried for war crimes. Iraqi should get war compensations for their loss, be they human or material, be they from individual or from public agencies.

I found your blog through Juan Cole's and would like to thank you for your own informed comments. If you are like me, you don't look at your blog often as it's used as a vehicle to post at other blogs, as you note in your profile. I note that France is in turmoil due to the strikes aimed at high fuel costs, which are about 1/2 taxes. But I would say to you that those taxes have financed your fine trains, trams and non-fossil fuel energy generating systems that are far better than anything we have in the USA. In fact, at The Oil Drum France is often cited as an example of a country doing the right thing in preparation for the time when Peak Oil renders oil-based transport too expensive for usual civilian use
